Care and Propagation Information

General Care for Sempervivum ‘Pacific Jordan'

Sempervivum ‘Oddity' is deer resistant, and its flowers attract pollinators. It can be grown in rock gardens, containers, or xeriscaped yards. As it grows, its offsets spread out and forms mats.

Watering

Sempervivum ‘Oddity' has typical watering needs for a succulent. It's best to use the “soak and dry” method, and allow the soil to dry out completely between waterings. Water weekly during hot months.

This succulent does not need to be watered in the winter when planted outdoors in a zone that gets lots of snow.

Where to Plant

‘Oddity' is cold hardy, and is able to withstand temperatures down to -20°F (-28.9°C). It thrives in areas with full to partial sun.

When it is hot outside, provide these succulents ample shade so they do not burn.

When grown indoors, it loses color and stretches very easily.

How to Propagate Sempervivum ‘Oddity'

Sempervivum ‘Oddity' can be propagated easily from offsets. Each “hen” (mother plant) will produce a large number of “chicks” (offsets), which can then be removed from the mother plant and potted or added to arrangements.

'Oddity' will not grow true to seed.

Offsets

‘Oddity’ will produce small rosette offsets. Cut the offsets off from the main stem with a sharp, sterile knife or scissors. Allow the offsets to dry for one to two days before laying on well-draining soil.

As this is a hybrid, it will not grow true to seed.
