This Agave and Manfreda hybrid has a compact rosette. Its leaves are green with maroon edges. It is considered monocarpic, but will put out offsets before the mother plant dies. ‘Bloodspot’ is evergreen, and will not enter a true dormancy unless its roots are kept dry.

General Care for Mangave ‘Bloodspot'

Mangave ‘Bloodspot' is an excellent addition to xeriscaped gardens.

It is a hybrid of Agave, which is monocarpic, and Manfreda, which does not die after blooming. Because of this, it's possible your Mangave will either continue growing after flowering, or may die.

Watering

Mangave ‘Bloodspot' has typical watering needs for a succulent. It's best to use the “soak and dry” method, and allow the soil to dry out completely between waterings. If the roots of ‘Bloodspot' remain dry for too long, it will enter a dormancy.

Where to Plant

‘Bloodspot' is not cold hardy, so if you live in a zone that gets colder than 20° F (-6.7° C), it's best to consider a different succulent for your area. Plant in an area of your garden that gets 6 hours of sunlight a day.

Because Mangave ‘Bloodspot' is a hybrid, it can be propagated from offsets.

Offsets

Mangave ‘Bloodspot' will produce small offsets, sprouting up around the base of the plant. Simply pull these up and allow the offsets to dry for one to two days before replanting.
